The Mount Rainier Lutheran Hawks ventured into foreign territory Friday night.
The result was the Hawks boys basketball team's first playoff victory in school history.
Andrew Wolf scored 21 of his 25 points in the first half as Mount Rainier Lutheran defeated North Sound Christian, 49-34, at the Class 1B Tri-District Tournament in Mountlake Terrace.
The Hawks from Tacoma, No. 7 in the Coaches Aid Class 1B state rankings, improved to 18-3 this season.
"Our guys, I think, were ready to play," Hawks coach Ron Rasmus said. "We were a little nervous maybe. They played really solid even though it was their first playoff victory. We kind of forged into new territory."
Also lifting the Hawks was sophomore point guard Carsten Neumiller, who scored seven points in the fourth quarter.
Next up for Mount Rainier Lutheran is sixth-ranked Lummi in the Tri-District semifinals. That game will be played Tuesday night at Mountlake Terrace High School.
