Football Forecast: Week 10

Week 10
We just keep rubbing that lucky rabbit's foot and so far, so good. Another sensational week of picks for easily our best of the season (and quite possibly our best ever in the history of the Forecast) at a blistering 88 percent. Guess you can say we are peaking at the right time but the upward run has to end sooner or later. Let's see if we can keep it going into the postseason.
Last Week: 150-20 (.882)
Season: 1114-258 (.812)

The Fab Five

Hennessey at Chisholm
Our Take: (Class 2A) Hennessey is going for its fourth consecutive district title and takes a 23-game district win streak to an opponent that nearly put an end to it last season. The Eagles had to score a TD and two-point conversion in the final 5:00 to escape with a 21-20 win at home. This year, Chisholm is still ground-oriented but has a sneaky dangerous passing attack led by versatile QB Taggart Brown. The Longhorns have the best scoring defense in 2A-1, but faces by far is biggest test of the season in Hennessey. Tabor Johns and Abe Ortega provide a 1-2 punch at running back that's difficult for anyone to slow. The Eagles also have one of the class's most underrated weapons in Jose Sanchez.
Our Pick: Hennessey 20, Chisholm 18

Bethany at John Marshall
Our Take: (Class 3A) Senior Kyle Duke has been the bellcow of the Bethany offensive attack with 712 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground in addition to 1,763 yards and another 15 scores through the air. John Marshall has been very balanced as well offensively with QB Lenard Leviston leading the charge. The Bears average nearly 42 points a game and have only been held under 35 points against Blanchard (24-21 win) and Douglass (21-20 loss). Those were also the only two games John Marshall has yielded more than 20 points. Slowing down a strong Bethany offense will be easier said than done however as the Bronchos have been held under 42 points just once during their current five-game winning streak.
Our Pick: Bethany 32, John Marshall 28

Eufaula at Roland
Our Take: (Class 3A) District 3A-8 title is on the line in this showdown between red-hot opponents. Eufaula has won eight straight since a season-opening loss to Beggs, including three decided by six points or less. Shane Moore has been the workhorse for the Ironheads with a Class 3A best 1,708 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns while averaging a sensational 8.9 yards per carry. Roland has relied heavily on an ultra-stingy defense during a five-game winning streak, holding each of its last four opponents to a single touchdown. The Rangers have a bit more balance offensively, spurred by QB Manuel Bunch, who has accounted for 1,347 yards of total offense and 20 touchdowns.
Our Pick: Eufaula 26, Roland 21

Davis at Kingston
Our Take: (Class 2A) The defending state champs from Davis have picked up pretty much right where they left off a year ago and have won 24 games in a row. That includes a highly-impressive 48-27 win over a Heritage Hall squad, which is one of the best in Class 3A. The Wolves' wishbone attack has been virtually unstoppable, averaging a whopping 47 points per contest in addition to 411 yards on the ground. Senior Blake Summers is the catalyst with 1,212 yards and 21 touchdowns while averaging a staggering 15.9 yards per carry. Kingston meanwhile is the top defensive team in Class 2A by a longshot, giving up only 27 points in eight contests. They also average nearly 39 points per outing. The Redskins however have not faced a single team with a winning record.
Our Pick: Davis 35, Kingston 21

Dewar at Keota
Our Take: (Class B) District B-4 supremacy is up for grabs with two of the five remaining unbeatens in Class B. Both are nearly identical statistically this season. Dewar averages 53.8 points offensively and allows just 5.1. Keota scores at a 52.2 clip while yielding just 5.3. Last week's 80-34 win over Weleetka is the only time this season Dewar has given up more than one touchdown. They also haven't scored less than 46 in a contest. You can also bet the Dragons fully remember last year's 48-28 Keota win in this contest. Keota's Lions haven't had a game go the distance since a 50-6 win at Weleetka in Week 2. Something has to give in a what amounts to a pick 'em game on paper.
Our Pick: Dewar 34, Keota 32
