Week 4

Here are some top performers from last week's Illinois high school sports scene:

David Gaytan rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as DuQuion defeated Sparta 48-7.

Trey Yocum of Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon also had a great first half, rushing for 210 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries as the Spartans defeated West Prairie 71-20.

Jordan Dean, a junior at Elgin, scored three touchdowns and ran for a season-high 254 yards on 27 carries in Elgin's 20-10 win over East Aurora. Dean has scored eight of Elgin's nine touchdowns this season.

Nearby, Larkin running back Jalen Williams scored twice in the fourth quarter, finished the day with five touchdowns and rushed for 364 yards in a 40-21 win. William's rush total was reportedly the 49th best in state history, but fell short of the school's all-time mark of 388 set in 1996 by Vince Webber.

Logan Rogers, a junior at Carmi-White County, ran for a school record 280 yards and four touchdowns. The visiting Bulldogs recorded a 28-16 win over host Vienna in that game.

Mike Fleming had four touchdowns to lead Tri-Valley to victory over Tremont, 42-22.

At Rochester, quarterback Sean Robinson threw for three touchdowns and 235 yards and also ran for a score.

At Danville, the host Vikings shut out Normal West 26-0 by forcing eight turnovers. Derrick Cunningham scored on an interception return and Eddie Clark scored on a fumble recovery among the eight turnovers.

Aurora Central Catholic arranged a game with Michigan Lutheran after Driscoll closed and opened a hole in the ACC schedule. AT neutral site Valparaiso, the Chargers rushed for 563 yards, led by Alex Schaefer with 176, and ended their 13-game losing streak with a 62-21 win.
