Welcome to CoachesAid.com Alaska

opening week headline image

Welcome to the grand opening of CoachesAid.com in your state.

Eleven years ago in a small, dusty Oklahoma town, two guys with one computer and a vague idea about the internet started a website for the sole purpose of covering Oklahoma high school sports. Coverage began in the fall of 1999, and now – a full decade later – our unique brand of coverage is extending to the rest of the country.

We call it ‘unique’ coverage, because in ten years of doing this, we’ve crafted a way to actually cover high school sports throughout a state. Not just the big cities and not just the best teams or players.

We’d like to welcome you to the site. In the space below we hope to give you an idea of who we are and how we plan to make an impact in your neck of the woods.

What is Coaches Aid?

The simple answer: We’re a website that covers high school sports. But we also assist coaches with an online directory of schools, coaches, schedules and results, and we help school organizations raise money.

When it comes to our high school sports coverage, we have a different goal than other similar sites. We have a desire – and a strategy – to actually cover a wide array of sports, schools and athletes. We don’t want to just throw up a few scores, schedules and some filler material.

We are crafting a network of people within your state that have a passion for local sports and the resources to provide coverage throughout. Read below to learn more about who we are and what we do.

Why the name "Coaches Aid?"

True story: We actually started out in Oklahoma to be just an online directory of schools, coaches and administrators to help with scheduling purposes. After we got that built, we started covering sports and the rest is history. The name stuck.

What does Coaches Aid offer?

While we are going national, Coaches Aid will stay local. Instead of having a singular “national site,” we focus on a state-by-state basis. Each state has its own self-sustaining site full of information on the schools, teams and coaches.

Along with our core directory of school information, team schedules, rosters and results we’ll also be covering sports throughout the season with our team of reporters, photographers, bloggers and podcasters. You can find it all by coming to your state’s Coaches Aid site.

Each and every school in your state has its own profile on CoachesAid, packed with schedules, rosters, local news, photos and more. Find your favorite school and set it as your default CoachesAid homepage for one-click access to everything happening with your favorite teams.

What kind of coverage?

First, we network with schools and coaches to follow and report on news from around the state on a daily basis. Our first goal is to be current, newsworthy and relevant.

We’ve also developed many interesting and exclusive features over the years that have become a hit with our audience in Oklahoma. We’ll be rolling those out as the school year progresses.

To start the 2009-10 school year our state sites will be focusing on these features:

  • Top Stories - From the big games to the small notes, our coverage team strives to give our viewers the most newsworthy information from around the state.
  • Scoreboard - Keep tabs on your team and your rivals here.
  • Rankings - See which teams are setting the pace.
  • GameTracker - Another CoachesAid exclusive, the Tracker is where we highlight the biggest upcoming games across the state throughout the different seasons. You’ll find game info, notes and even some predictions from our staff here on a daily basis.
  • Hot List - Similar to the GameTracker, the Hot List is a running feature that chronicles which athletes across the state are making the most noise.
  • Blogs - Hit up our blog section to see what our writers are digging into. From sport-specific blogs to random musings of the world around us, you’ll find a mix of everything here.

Special Features

We’ll also be launching several special features throughout the year, such as:

  • CA50 – A postseason listing of the Top 50 girls and boys basketball players in the state.
  • Ten Men – A postseason listing of the Top 10 football players at each position.
  • School of the Year – Our exclusive system of determining which schools had the best overall athletic programs in each classification.

But it’s two of our newest features we’re most excited to offer coast-to-coast: Game Day Program and Pep Club.

Look below to learn more about each.

What is 'Game Day Program?'

“Program! Get your program!”

With CoachesAid’s new Game Day Program (GDP) it’s never been easier for schools to create their own guide to the big game. It’s easy, it’s free and it’s fun!

GDP is an automated system that allows users to create a printable program for their football and basketball games in just seconds. It’s a genius creation, if you don’t mind us saying so.

Just use our GDP generator to select the school, sport and game you need and GDP does the rest. It will generate a printable file packed with detailed team rosters, schedules and scores, district or league standings, rankings and more.

Just print and copy however many you need. Fans can use them as their own personal guide to the big game. Schools can use them as official game programs or use them as inserts to supplement the game program they already have.

What is 'Pep Club?'

Pep Club is a fundraiser that gives teams, clubs or other school organizations a way to use Coaches Aid to raise money. Even better, it’s easy and hassle-free.

The Pep Club is better than other fundraisers because there is no inventory to mess with, there are no products to purchase or deliver, the monetary cut is huge and it’s a clever way for a school’s most loyal supporters to show their support throughout the year in the most visible of ways.
