Cumberland Valley at Central Dauphin, Friday, 7 p.m.
In a Class AAAA game, Central Dauphin (9-2) enters having won six straight, including 37-13 last week against Spring Grove. The Rams, who have outscored their opponents 385-221 this year, are led by senior running back Colton Charles, who averages 121.3 yards per game.
Junior Nkemjika Rajis leads the defense with a team-high 92 tackles. Cumberland Valley (9-2) has won eight of its last nine, including 42-7 last week against Muhlenberg. Quarterback Eric Sawyer has completed 67-of-120 passes for 1,277 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions.
St. Joseph’s vs. LaSalle at Northeast, Friday, 7 p.m.
In a Class AAAA game, St. Joseph’s (9-1) has won seven straight including 42-7 last week against Roman Catholic. That game was a rematch from the regular season finale, which St. Joseph’s won, 34-0.
The Hawks are averaging nearly 35 points a game during their winning streak with an offense led by quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg.
LaSalle (9-1) has won six straight games and is hoping to avenge a 24-17 loss to the Hawks on Sept. 26. The Explorers are led by RB Jamal Abdur-Rahman, who averages more than 118 yards a game on the ground.
Boone at Manheim Central, Friday, 7 p.m.
This Class AAA game is the one to watch. Manheim Central (11-0) has allowed eight points and has posted four shutouts in its past five games during a stretch in which it has averaged more than 50 points per outing.
The Barons are led by fullback and defensive lineman Joe Gruber, quarterback Justin Gorman and linebacker Lowen Johnson. Boone (9-2), which has won three of its past four games since suffering a 19-13 loss to Pottsville on Oct. 23, has outscored the opposition, 317-113.
The Blazers are led by running back and linebacker Brian Evans, quarterback Jonathan Monteiro and defensive end Mitchell Stead.
Laurel vs. Clairton at Central, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
This one has been 10 weeks in the making as the highly-touted Bears (10-1) look to exact some revenge against a Laurel team that knocked them off 15-8 in Week 1.
Clairton is led by running back Deontae Howard and wide receiver Kevin Weatherspoon.
Laurel is still looking for respect despite only losing to undefeated Rochester.
Something has to give in this WPIAL Class A semifinal.
Rochester vs. North Catholic at Mars, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Only two teams have scored more than seven points against Rochester (11-0) and no one has put up more than 14.
North Catholic (9-2) has reeled off nine straight wins behind quarterback Martin Long and is trying to reach its first WPIAL Class A Final game in five tries.
Aliquippa vs. Beaver Falls at Ambrige, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
The more things change….. Well, you know the saying.
Last year, the Quipps (10-1) beat the Fighting Tigers (10-1) 8-6 in the WPIAL Class AA semifinals. This season, Beaver Falls clipped Aliquippa 21-14 in Week 3.
It always seems to come down to these two, as the two have won 85 times in the postseason and account for 26 app.
This is a step before that round, but it doesn’t mean things will be much different.
Neshaminy at North Penn, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
North Penn, which has allowed just 88 points all season, is coming off a dominating 39-12 Class AAAA win in a game in which running back Craig Needhammer ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
Needhammer powers an offense that has averaged 31 points the past three games and has scored fewer than 28 just twice this season.
Neshaminy (9-2) rebounded from a 27-20 loss to Pennsbury to end the regular season and defeated Abington, 24-17, last week for its seventh win in the past eight games. The Redskins, who average 28 points per game and allow 13, are led by running back Bryan Dean and linebacker Stephen Stemme.
Bok Tech at West Catholic, Saturday, noon
In a Class AA game, Bok Tech (10-0) hopes to remain perfect a week after beating Lower Moreland 42-0. The offense is led by running back Khalil Neal, who has 665 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. The defense is even more impressive as the Wildcats allow just 4.6 points a game.
West Catholic (9-2) has won six straight, including 44-22 over Bishop McDevitt last week. QB Jarred Evans has completed 31-of-51 passes for 561 yards, six touchdowns and an interception for the Burrs.
Bishop Mcevitt vs. Governer Mifflin at Central Daughin, Saturday, 1 p.m.
Bishop McDevitt will look for a repeat performance from standout quarterback Matt Johnson, who threw five touchdown passes to lead his team to a 42-24 Class AAAA victory over rival Harrisburg last week.
Johnson will look to throw deep to Noah Spence, who had an 86-yard touchdown catch against Harrisburg.
The Crusaders (10-0) boast one of the state’s most prolific attacks, as they have outscored the opposition, 438-105 this season. Governor Mifflin (7-4) is coming off consecutive, 14-0 shutouts of Muhlenberg and Manheim Township and has won three of their past four games. The Mustangs, who have rebounded from a 5-4 start, will need to play their best game of the season to pull one of the season’s biggest surprises.
