REGION I-2A
Division I
Overview
Three teams with one loss or fewer crowd the four-team top half:
Best bidistrict matchup
- Littlefield (9-1) vs. Alpine (9-1), 7:30 p.m. Saturday @Ratliff Stadium, Odessa
Best teams (not necessarily region finalists)
- Muleshoe (10-0): Defending 2A Division I state champ has won 25 in a row.
- Brady (10-0): Among the Bulldogs' victims: 3A Fredericksburg by 31.
Dark horse
- Alpine: Bucks eager to rebound from Week 10 loss to Crane.
Projected regional final
- Muleshoe vs. Brady: It's hard to go against a defending champ, although danger lurks in both the second (Alpine-Littlefield winner) and third rounds. Brady has an easier route to this matchup, but the Mules remain the team to beat.
- CoachesAid.com pick: Muleshoe.
Division II
Overview
Three unbeatens and two one-loss teams make this a formidable field:
Best bidistrict matchup
- Holliday (8-2) vs. Cisco (10-0), 7:30 p.m. Friday @Birdville FAAC, North Richland Hills
Best teams (not necessarily region finalists)
- Bushland (10-0): Average score so far this season: 52.2-7.5.
- Henrietta (10-0): Bearcats stepped into spotlight with win over Holliday.
Dark horse
- Cisco (10-0): An unbeaten dark horse? Yeah, this is a deep region.
Projected regional final
- Bushland vs. Crane (9-1): The Falcons probably will have to get past Henrietta or 9-1 Colorado City to get here, but this looks like a team on a mission. The Golden Cranes raised some eyebrows with the thoroughness of their victory over Alpine with the 4-2A title on the line.
- CoachesAid.com pick: Bushland.
