NATHAN ROBERTS, Point Pleasant

On 24 carries, Knights senior running back, Nathan Roberts, ran the ball 354 yards and scored four times before the second half. Knights head coach Dave Darst said after the game, “His whole night was a highlight reel.”

JIMMY DETER, Madonna

Senior Jimmy Deter replaced starting senior tailback A.J. Klein in the second quarter after he suffered a broken collarbone. Deter went on to gain 98 yards on six carries 42-yard touchdown run in the third period.

HUNTER FERGUSON, Parkersburg South

Ferguson was a workhorse Friday night, carrying the ball 35 times for 145 yards and helping keep the ball out of the opposing team’s star running back’s hands (yes, I’m talking about Allan Wasonga). Ferguson scored two touchdowns on the night to help lift Parkersburg South over Parkersburg, 35-14.

ALLAN WASONGA, Parkersburg

Wasonga was unable to help his team enough to beat Parkersburg South, but the junior running back did manage to surpass 1,600 rushing yards on the year. Wasonga touched the ball 17 times for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the Big Reds still fell to their rival, 35-14.

CODY TAYLOR, Webster

Senior running back, Cody Taylor, rushed 18 times for 142 yards in the Highlanders 37-6 win over Oak Hill.

CONNOR ARLIA, Madonna

Junior defensive back, Connor Arlia, returned an interception 32 for a touchdown. Arlia also sacked Notre Dame’s quarterback, Nolan Tucci, and forced a fumble on the Fighting Irish’s 10-yard line. The ball was picked up by Madonna’s Christian Roe who took it to the end zone.

CHRISTIAN ROE, Madonna

Sophomore linebacker and tailback Christian Roe scored six points on a defensive fumble recovery. Roe also was received extra time carrying the ball in place of A.J. Klein, who was injured during the game. Roe led the Blue Dons rushing attack with 16 carries for 118 yards.

STORM ROBINSON, Herbert Hoover

Robinson rushed 15 times for 87 yards in the Huskies 8-6 win over Sissonville. Robinson, the leader in total yards for the game, was forced to run in the mud as a result of heavy rains before and during the game.

TYLER HARRIS, South Charleston

Harris completed four out of five passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns for South Charleston as they cruised past Lincoln County, 51-6.  The junior quarterback also rushed six times for 43 yards and a touchdown.

MO MEKHENE, South Charleston

Mekhene scored three touchdowns for the Black Eagles in their, 51-6, win over Lincoln County. The junior wide receiver had 85 yards receiving and two touchdowns through the air. Mekhene had one rushing touchdown which came on a 25-yard reverse play.

ANTHONY MULLINS, Winfield

Winfield ended a five game losing streak thanks, in part, to the efforts of running back Anthony Mullins. Mullins contributed to 129 of the Generals’ 350 rushing yards, and found the end zone on three separate occasions in Winfield’s 35-20 victory over Logan.

DUSTIN BOTSCH, Logan

Despite their loss, Logan’s junior running back, Dustin Botsch, managed to get 118 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.

LUKE CORLEY, Ravenswood

Red Devils sophomore running back, Luke Corley, rushed for 116 yards on 17 carries and added a touchdown to help Ravenswood defeat Braxton County, 14-0.

SOCCER (Girls)

ERIN CLARK, South Charleston

Clark scored a combined seven goals last week for the Black Eagles in victories over St. Albans, Princeton and Greenbrier East. Of her teams 22 goals this year she has accounted for 13, and contributed to 7 assists on the remaining 9 scored.

KELSEY MATTHEWS, Cabell Midland

Matthews scored twice and had one assist to lead the Knights to a 4-0 victory over St. Joe in their final home match of the season.
