The Miners host Riverton in a big rivalry game this Friday, before closing out the regular season at Taylorsville. …Pleasant Grove moved to 7-0 on the season after winning a bone-crushing game Brighton. Vikings quarterback Dallas Lloyd suffered a slightly separated shoulder in the game and is questionable for Wednesday’s game at Lone Peak. …The Hawks stayed in contention for a region title after beating American Fork 37-21. Alta should have easy time with Hillcrest before taking on Pleasant Grove in two weeks. …Lone Peak climbs up to fourth in the rankings. The Knights won at Jordan and now have a short week to prepare for a huge battle with Pleasant Grove. …Brighton’s narrow loss to Pleasant Grove proved that the offense needs some work. The Bengals only generated 62-yards and two first downs after the first quarter against the Vikings. …Syracuse won a 9-0 defensive struggle over Weber and remains in the hunt for a share of the Region 1 title. The Titans need to beat Layton on Friday and hope for a Fremont victory over Davis. … The Darts are coming off a bye week and have to travel to Fremont for a big Region 1 battle. Davis needs the win to have chance at the outright region championship. …Skyline jumps up a spot to No. 8, as the Eagles dominated East 41-7. The Eagles host Hunter in a Region 2 battle. …Fremont’s win over Viewmont on Friday gives the Silverwolves an outside chance at the region crown. …Hunter had the upset of the week by beating Cottonwood 24-14. With a record of 4-1 in region play, the Wolverines control their own destiny.

The Mustangs whipped Logan as expected, but face a tougher opponent in quarterback Nik Allred and the Ogden Tigers. …The Braves fall from the unbeaten ranks after Friday’s 9-7 loss to Highland. Bountiful was tied with Wasatch and South Sevier for the state’s longest winning streak before getting clipped. …Springville won a big region game at Spanish Fork and climbs to fourth this week’s poll. The Red Devils take the week off to prepare for Salem Hills on Oct. 22nd. …Provo escaped an upset bid by Mountain View on Thursday. The Bulldogs squeaked by the Bruins 21-20 to remain on top of Region 7. Provo travels to Orem on Wednesday. …We said on Game Tracker that Highland would beat Bountiful and it happened. In reality it wasn’t that big of an upset, the Rams defense has been superb lately and Bountiful was due for a loss. Highland now controls Region 6 but it’ll have to beat a good Woods Cross team on Friday to stay on top. The Wildcats are 4-1 in league play and have won three straight games. …Sky View is also coming on strong at the right time. The Bobcats have won five in row, and play at Bonneville this Friday. …Pine View remains in a battle for a playoff spot, the 5-2 Panthers had the week off but resume play Thursday night at Snow Canyon. …Spanish Fork missed a golden opportunity to knock off fourth ranked Springville, but the Dons are still the second best team in Region 8 and should win their last two games. Spanish Fork plays at Uintah on Wednesday.

Notes: Juan Diego is still the best team in 3A. The Soaring Eagle beat Bear River 34-7, leaving no doubt who the top dog in 3A football is. Next up is Ben Lomond on Friday. …Park City keeps rolling up the points, this week the Miners scored 71 points against American Leadership Academy. The Miners play Union on Friday, before gearing up for their showdown with Wasatch. …Hurricane has won seven straight games and can secure at least a share of the region title with a victory over Cedar this Wednesday. …Morgan blanked Ben Lomond 42-0 and takes on Judge Memorial this Friday. .
Class 2A

Notes: San Juan shutout North Summit 36-zip to remain the top team in 2A, the Broncos play at North Sevier on Friday to finish the regular season. …South Sevier is 8-0 and leading 2A West. The Rams have the longest winning streak in the state, and play at Enterprise on Friday. …South Summit remains third in the rankings after destroying Gunnison 45-6. The Wildcats finish the schedule at last place North Summit this Friday. …Millard probably won’t catch South Sevier in league play, but at 6-2, the Eagles are a dangerous playoff contender. …Enterprise takes on a red-hot South Sevier team this Friday, but If the Wolves can pull off the upset, it could force a three-way tie for the region championship.

Notes: Rich has been unstoppable this season, especially Rebels quarterback Bradley Holmes. He rushed 279 yards and three scores vs. Duchesne last Friday. The Rebels play at 1-6 Whitehorse this Friday. …Last week, Duchesne got beat by Rich 35-8, but the game was within reach at halftime. The Eagles will try and rebound against Monticello this Friday. …Milford is 2-0 in 1A South, but the Tigers have a tough schedule ahead. First it’s fifth ranked Altamont (4-3) this Friday and then a road game at fourth ranked Monticello (3-3) to finish the regular season. ... Meanwhile, Monticello plays this week at Duchesne but the Buckaroos defeated Duchesne 21-12 last season. …And Altamont is back in the picture after spanking Layton Christian 42-6.
