CLASS 5A

1.) Mayfield (7-0)

2.) La Cueva (6-1)

4.) Manzano (6-1)

5.) Rio Rancho (4-3)

6.) Oñate (5-1)

7.) Cibola (4-3)

8.) Clovis (5-2)

9.) Valley (5-2)

10.) Cleveland (4-3)

Dropped out: Eldorado

NOTES: Mayfield remains the lone unbeaten in the class, and continued their roll, but tougher district games await. ...La Ceva didn't play a bunch of starter and still hammered Santa Fe. ...Las Cruces is looking scarier by the week. ...Manzano wasn't challenged this week. Their toughest games are in the past -- at least until the playoffs stat. ...Rio Rancho can put up the points. Now if its defense can just afind a way to stop someody. ...Oñate has had a week off to prepare for the Bulldawgs, let's see what teh Knights ahve come up with. ...Ciboa has shown it can play good teams tough. Now it has to show it can beat them. ...Clovis whipped up on a sliding Eldorado group up at home; but I'm still not convinced the Wildcats can win outside of Clovis. ...Valley's back, but their wins have all come at the expense of weak teams and La Cueva still looms. ...Cleveland couldn't make its stadium opener a memorable one.

CLASS 4A

1.) Belen (7-0)

2.) Volcano Vista (6-0)

3.) Artesia (4-2)

4.) Silver (5-2)

5.) Goddard (4-3)

6.) Farmington (4-3)

7.) Aztec (3-3)

8.) St. Pius (4-3)

9.) Deming (4-3)

10.) Grants (4-2)

Dropped out: Shiprock.

NOTES: Another dominating performance from Belen. Don't get in the way of the Eagles' talons. ...Volcano Vista got a week off to prepare for Del Norte. ...Artesia was off, but moved up a spot after Silver's shocking loss. ...The Colts dropped a decision to Farmginton, but that's just hiccup on the way to the playoffs. Goddard plastered Carlsbad. ...The Scorpions jumped from unranked to sixth based in the strength of their big win. ...Aztec opens district play in two weeks after a bye week. ...Pius seems to be up and down every week, but there is plenty of there. ...Deming continues to essentially holding its spot in the rankings by default. ...Grants doesn't get a lot of respect, which the Pirates are out to disprove.

CLASS 3A

1.) Raton (5-1)

2.) St. Michael's (4-1)

3.) Lovington (4-2)

4.) Albuquerque Academy (5-0)

5.) Pojoaque (5-1)

6.) Socorro (4-2)

7.) Robertson (3-2)

8.) Hatch Valley (3-2)

9.) Crownpoint (3-3)

10.) Ruidoso (2-4)

Dropped out: Zuni

NOTES: The difference between the top three teams is so slight that anyone of them could sit atop the rankings. Raton jumps up based on its strong performance in a tight loss to 5A Cleveland. ...St. Michael's acquitted itself well for 3½ quarters before succumbing to St. Pius. ...Lovington keeps rolling along. ...Albuquerque Academy continues to find 3A, but district play will be a challenge. ...Pojoaque had to come back to earth, but Grants is a pretty good 4A team. ...Socorro got back on the winning track against Santa Teresa. ...Robertson is beginning to roll and will be a tough district foe. ...Now that the crops are in, Hatch Valley can concentrate on sports. ...Crownpoint is now looking like the top team from District 1. ...Ruidoso has taken on all comers as it prepares for its tough district.

CLASS 2A

1.) Texico (6-0)

2.) Lordsburg (6-0)

3.) Estancia (5-1)

4.) Eunice (4-2)

5.) Cuba (5-1)

Dropped out: Tularosa.

Notes: Texico is legitimate. The Wolverines will be the team to beat the rest of the season. ...Lordsburg also is legit, setting up a championship showdown. ...Estancia has some street cred, as well and will be heard from come playoff time. ...Eunice just came up with a big win over Tucumcari. ...Cuba has been a surprise, but let's see what happens when district time rolls around.

CLASS 1A

1.) Hagerman (5-1)

2.) Escalante (5-1)

3.) Fort Sumner (4-2)

4.) Jal (4-2)

5.) Clayton (3-2)

Dropped out: McCurdy

Notes: Hagerman just keeps mowing down opponents. ...Escalante is putting together a special year. ...Watch out for Fort Sumner. The Foxes have owned the post season of late. ...Jal is tough and will be heard from. ...Clayton has been in a bit of slump and needs to bounce back.

1.) Melrose (5-0)

2.) Tatum (5-1)

3.) Logan (5-1)

4.) Reserve (5-1)

5.) Clovis Christian (5-1)

Dropped out: none.

Notes: Melrose has now won 18 straight stretched over three seasons. ...Tatum is coming off a big win over then-undefeated Reserve. ...Logan faced the right team in Menaul to recover from its loss to Tatum ...We need to see what kind of reserve Reserve has after a tough loss to the Coyotes. ...Clovis Christian lost to a quickly improving Mountainair squad.

6-MAN

1.) Roy (4-1)

2.) Hondo Valley (5-1)

3.) Lake Arthur (5-1)

4.) House (4-2)

5.) Dora (3-2)

Dropped out: none.

Notes: Roy pulled off the big win over Hondo Valley. ...The Eagles are smarting from their first loss. ...Lake Arthur hit the century mark against Dota. ...House played tough against Hondo. ...It's not often you score 50 points and lose. By a lot. Poor Dora.
