10. WOODBRIDGE VIKINGS (7-0), Previous: 9

Last week: Def. Hylton 20-13

Note: A relatively tame week in the rankings is best reflected in the overall list. There are no new entrants and only one switch between two clubs. By virtue of Meadowbrook’s impressive win over a quality Dinwiddie team, the Monarchs jump up to the No. 9 spot. Woodbridge, which edged Hylton by a touchdown, takes the final slot.

AAA

1. Oscar Smith (6-0), Previous ranking: 1

2. Phoebus (6-0), Previous: 2

3. Ocean Lakes (6-0), Previous: 3

4. Stone Bridge (6-0), Previous: 4

9. Lake Taylor (5-1), Previous: 9

Note: Aside from Meadowbrook and Woodbridge exchanging the No. 7 and 8 positions, there was one entrance and one exit. Robert E. Lee (Springfield) saw its perfect season blemished with a 28-21 loss at Lake Braddock, formerly in the top 10. The Lancers’ fall coincides with the rise of L.C. Bird. Despite 140 yards in penalties, the Skyhawks beat fellow unbeaten Cosby 21-14.

AA

1. Broad Run (6-0), Previous ranking: 1

2. Amherst County (6-0), Previous: 2

10. James Wood (5-0), Previous: NR

Note: In a clash between Cave Spring and Salem, the Spartans ended the competitive phase quickly. By the end of the first half, it was 35-0. Thus, the Knights fell out of the top 10. They were supplanted by James Wood, who takes up the rear after a 33-2 win versus Brentsville.

A

1. Essex (5-0), Previous ranking: 1

2. Gate City (6-1), Previous: 2

3. Gretna (5-1), Previous: 3

4. Buckingham County (6-0), Previous: 4

8. Franklin (5-1), Previous: 8

9. Sussex Central (4-1), Previous: 9

10. Madison County (6-0), Previous: 10

Note: Over the course of the season, Group A has provided the most shuffling of positioning. Not so this week. In fact, there is no movement. While Buckingham County and West Point served its respective bye weeks, seven of the top ten won by more than 20 points. The only tight one came when J.J. Kelly sweated out a 16-14 victory over Lee.
