BRANDON- The Brandon Bulldogs hosted the Natchez Bulldogs in a Region 3-6A Bulldog battle. After an outstanding start in the first half, Brandon cruised to a 44-15 win. The win puts the Bulldogs in a 4-way tie atop Region 3-6A with Oak Grove, Hattiesburg, and Meridian.

Williams rushed for 221 yards Friday night.

It wasn't long until the show was stolen by Brandon senior running back Roy Williams. The senior Bulldog running back rushed 12 times for 221 yards (18.4 per carry) and three touchdowns.

"I have to thank my offensive line for blocking for me," said Williams after the win.

"I am just running for my team and making our spot in the  playoffs."

Williams had a touchdown run of 48 yards and added another rush for 52 yards in the first half.

Brandon excelled in all three phases of the game Friday night. Junior defensive Andre Crane intercepted a Javon Washington pass and took in the end zone for the first score of the game.

Washington would leave the game in the second quarter with a possible broken rib and not return.

"That was a big factor in the game tonight," said Bulldog head coach Dan Davis after the win.

"Not taking anything from the way our guys played tonight, because they did great, but losing your No.1 guy hurts."

Turnovers ended several Natchez possessions and the Brandon Bulldogs capitalized on their mistakes. At the end of the first half Natchez found themselves down by 37.

"We had a great plan. We spent all week working on our plan and we played a great game tonight," said Davis after the win.

The Roy Williams Show continued in the first half as the Bulldogs continued to move the ball up the field. Williams scored his third touchdown of the night on a 4-yard run.

Backup quarterback Derrian Johnson ended to shutout in the third quarter when he found Santorius Pollard on a 63 yard touchdown reception.

Next week Brandon travels to face a tough opponent in the Meridian Tigers. Natchez will travel to play Jim Hill.
